We are 5! Can you believe this?

It’s been a long time since we started Giveaway of the Day. 1826 days ago to be more precise. We’ve been constantly working to get the project going like clockwork. We have provided you with more than 1850 software titles and over 680 games. Working every day means constant development. Sometimes it goes by contraries but we’ve been doing our best to give away loads of different software, meeting all but impossible needs of our audience. The list includes system utilities, photo editors, video converters (tons of them:)), audio editors, Windows shells, screensavers, encryption software, antiviruses, desktop enhancements, backup utilities and many others.

Since December 12, 2006 we have been proud to publish two games chosen by our editors every weekend! You might have favored our HOGs, arcades, strategies, matching and puzzle games giveaways.

In order to gain new audiences and overcome the language barrier we are running the site in 12 languages with the help of our lovely translators. We wish making every program’s GUI switch between languages could be that simple…

           

We treasure you (our unique creative and ingenious users) and welcome you to share your thoughts concerning software given away and generally about the project (don’t get too carried away by the “general thing”:). Anyway you’ve shared more than 145’000 comments (overwhelming figure) providing ideas, criticizing, offering alternatives, solving tech probs, sharing thoughts and communicating.

Since we teamed up with Idea Informer on July 6, 2010 our vendors have an additional opportunity to gather improvement suggestions and it’s now much easier to make the product better basing on customers’ feedback. Besides some of our numerous vendors let users benefit from adding ideas and offer life-time licenses or subscriptions for their products. This said be attentive guys, don’t miss the chance to exercise your brain and bring up cool ideas. Still try to stop with the portable thing, if you want the rewards to keep coming. ;)

GOTD Forum was started at the same time the site itself was launched and seeing how fast the community keep growing is the greatest reward we dare to imagine. You will be surprised but the number of the posts is almost equal to the number of the registered users here – 86314 vs 84399. No doubts most answers are given by GOTD Forum leaders and their team:

To make it easier to check the current giveaway we launched a Facebook application which is used by 66’000+ people. No wonder you are one of them!

Not many of you know that we also have an Official Page on Facebook. We launched it in April, 2009 and it’s been serving an informing purpose for you trouble free. Had no idea it even existed – may be it’s the right time to give it a like!

Since April, 2009 12,243 people have followed us on Twitter. It’s one of the most convenient ways to stay informed about the giveaways.

There is so much more to that, you know! We would not be what we are without the developers’ willingness to share their programs and without our visitors’ ability to always see a reason in downloading and reviewing every piece of software we listed. We are grateful for everything: complex solutions and small utilities, 2-page reviews and just “works fine for me” remarks. It is great we have you!
