Xmas eve at last! **gift attached**

Why do we anticipate this holiday so eagerly? Many of us would say it is about getting back to that breath-taking joy you feel when watching the sparkling lights on the Christmas tree and smelling pine odour, refreshing the most cheerful memories of our childhood. Some “materialistic” guys would argue that Christmas is all about giving-and-receiving presents (commercial angle is essential though – who wouldn’t want to get a high-end tablet PC from his/her beloved granny this year?).

Some “family guys” would mention that Christmas is a great occasion to spend some precious moments together with our dear families and friends. However, we at the Giveaway of the Day project believe that there is a deeper meaning of Christmas that can’t be found under the Christmas tree and can hardly be described in a few words. All we know is that Christmas is the right time to share everything good with other people, hence spread gratitude, happiness and peace.

By the way, the general principle of our project has something in common with the good old Christmas tradition of sharing – we share with you, our loyal audience, the most interesting software daily, making a small Christmas everyday (yep, like a small geek Santa addicted to bringing joy on your computers).

We sincerely wish you health, prosperity and happiness! Our heart-felt wishes to our own cool “Santa’s elves” – vendors and moderators, and to you guys who download, install, test and criticize programs we share – you make our Santa’s workshop go on!

P.S. Here is our another good Xmas tradition – special Christmas gift for all of you, guys! It is GOTD-styled desktop background with Winter calendar, which comes in a few different resolutions so you can pick a suitable one: 2560×1440, 1920×1440, 1920×1080, 1680×1200, 1680×1050, 1600×1200, 1440×900, 1400×1050, 1366×768, 1280×1024

…and YES, we thought of providing a preview, but considered a SURPRISE is always MERRIER! ;)

Always yours,
GOTD team

  4. Merry Christmas to you GAOTD. Thank you for this lovely Christmas gift. I now have it on my desktop. GAOTD is a ritual with me everyday. Some time I just come to see what is being offered, some time to download or not, and then I really hunker down in the library. Neat place to get lost in to see all things you offer. Merry Christmas to all. Stay warm, stay safe and of course and always —– Peace to all of you.

  17. Merry Christmas dear GOTD project team and thanks for all the efforts put into the project, it was a bunch of fun visiting the site on a daily basis this year. Also thanks to all visitors and especially those that contributed with useful and crucial weighty comments regularly (which are of course sometimes a real pain to read, lol).

Peace, all the best and a prosperous New Year 2014. :)

  18. Hi,
thanks for the very kind message, and yes, as I type it was not so many decades ago that I would have been incredibly excited and waking my big brother before dawn to share the excitement.
I have had quite a full life, but the old days are gone for me.Believe it or not (I find it hard to believe) – the area I inhabit, actually myself is not technically enjoying “Peace time” but there are no gunfights all conflicts are non-physical. I am finished, sorry to be morbid, but right now I just feel the absolutely wonderful grace of the gift of a day, any day – like today, to enjoy living with dignity.

  19. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year! Thanks so much for all the great giveaways and all your hard work, I really appreciate it!! ☮❤ (◕ ◡ ◕)

    Thank You Kindly Always,
Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Year To All.

  25. As all have already said, thank you for a great service. I have hopped out of bed more than once these past few years if by the small chance I hadn’t checked what was being offered that day. I have some favorites that I have missed in the past and I just haven’t wanted that to happen again. So know that you are treasured for your service and hard work.

May the Lord’s blessings rain/reign upon you this coming year. It is because of Him that we have all that we do, and I am grateful to our Heavenly Father for His Son, Jesus Christ, and his atoning sacrifice for us all. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!

    God bless you all.

  26. Love the site and the calendar. For those who stated that Christmas is about the birth of Jesus, that is mostly correct. Many of the traditions that are from other pre-Christian cultures were incorporated into the holiday by Christians. Gift giving, greenery and Santa Claus (Saint Nicholas) are from pagan beliefs.

  27. Yep, I’m late. :) Happy Holidays, GOTD team! :) We cherish every gift you give us all year. And the care you put into each one! You are the best Santa EVER! Wish I could give you gifts too! Nothing would equal all you do for us! :) May your New Year be filled with joy & peace & love! :)
