Hello everyone,
I`d like to raise an important question regarding the situation with some of our users attempting to post registration keys in our forums and comments sections.
A week ago we`ve ran into the problem with the giveaway registration key being posted in our comments and forums to help some of the users with their activation problems. That key probably helped them to solve the problem, yet created a much bigger one: software developer wasn`t happy to see that, and you can easily guess why!
Despite the fact that only a few dozens users (compared to many thousands on giveaway day) users accessed these topics after the giveaway day, we felt obliged to offer him a compensation doubling because we felt that our forums and comments sections were misused. But it`s not only about the money, it has a lot more to do with the moral aspect of the situation.
Please, please notice that by helping someone with a license key or a registry entry being posted in our forums and comments section you might solve a short-term problem… yet you will hurt the project in a long run. No technical problem should be used as an approval for making licensing information freely available after the giveaway day, and I really hope that the unpleasant situation in which we are now, will teach all of us, both GAOTD maintainers and visitors, an important lesson and help us avoid such situations in future.
Slava
