Minor WordPress works which turned out to be a major database maintenance.
Hello everyone,
and sorry for the inconvenience caused by today’s GAOTD downtime.
Today we started to do some minor works on our WordPress site engine and just a few minutes later we faced the whole database performance problem that bugged us and our visitors before from time to time. But now, this database problem was about to become full-scale disaster, so we decided to deal with that immediately, and we had to bring the site down for several hours.
We are still working on database performance tuning and expect Giveawayoftheday.com to be in a perfect shape tomorrow, ready to meet our visitors.
We will launch our daily giveaways at midnight (PST) and we hope that you’ll visit us tomorrow to check those out.

No problem, I work within a computerised enviroment and there is some times no other option, will go on site tomorrow, well done all.
Guys could you please try to shift to GMT… DST is very confusing because a LOT of people wouldn’t be knowing about it? And I think the DST rules for PST changed w.e.f. 2007 (and look at how it will mangle the sentences of people too, as well!!!!11111!1!1one!!1)
Oh, and, your freeware library has navigation issues. I mean it’s near impossible to browse, even if you DO try to click on all the tags, there’s always going to be stuff that you miss out on.
Got any other navigation schemes besides the tag cloud ?
Well that’s just fiiinnneee. I woke up this morning looking forward to starting my day with a good cup of Joe and daily infusion of game and app and you guys didn’t answer the phone. Grrrrreeeaaat! Well, while you’re out to lunch would you mind coming back with something average folks can use like a program that will make up your grocery list for you when you choose your weekly menu from it’s menu planner; or maybe something like Autotech (I just found it at Target) that lets the back yard mechanic look up technical stuff and specifications on the family car. Lots of us have kids who resist rote learning and could use a few educational tools that help with spelling and multiplication tables. Some educational games maybe that show kids how to build things up not just how to blow them up. Or how about a program that teaches English to Spanish people so I can give it to my friend who always forces me to speak Spanish to him when we live in an English speaking country. He chose to live here. Part of that choice is learning the language. Maybe something with visuals featuring lots of cute bikini-clad guys and gals will help keep students study the material longer.

Thanks for the freebeesz, If yo can’t experience a few breakdowns once in a while then those that complain should be ashamed of themselves. Keep up the good work. For people like me with only SS as income this place is a blessing. I could never complain about what work you do or will do or have done. #5, not sure if we can, PST allows us to do some work on switching giveaways in our morning, GMT would force us to stay late, and some of us are family guys.

#7, not sure if that’s possible, because there are visitors from many many countries so we’d have to have dozens of different versions of education program for different combination of languages.
Overall, we still have lots of work to do to get this site up and stable tomorrow.
A little downtime is expected once in a while. I’m just grateful for what you are doing. Not having a large disposable income to spend on software, I find programs here that I would have spent money on to use. Thanks again. See you tomorrow.

How about Tabs (like the new IE 7) for the week (there is only 52 weeks in the year) within are the 7 days tabs for each game Download page, not like the current way Two pages. If you keep records this way you can have an inventory offline or online (Tabs {Year}{Month}{Weeks}{Days}) A Main Page that can get your visitors thru all your web pages on your site and to other sites that your company supports, easly. A quick Link back to the main page, on all the pages. and friendly to Programs like free Downloader Manager Version 2.1 Build 428 (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/) I got Dailup that takes longer then the cable internet providers, on downloading. I Do not Know If I can use the NeoDownloader that I got from you to download the games from GGwotd, at this time I am keepting it away from GGwotd and Gwotd. for I do not want to bite the hand that keeps me extremely happy.
When Are You Guys and Gals are going off the beta 2 web site version?
and If you do. Make it a Free site, not like (pay site, name and password free sites) this methods may diminish web visitors and some of use may not have a way to pay online in USA dollars. When Its Time to pass the Torch of your company (Make shore the company does not die out with the founders) to some one that will continue the founders wishies and dreams into the future.

Great site guys. The down time is very understandable with any growth. And quite quick in my opinion. My heart went pitter patter when you were gone, so I am very happy that it was just temporary!

If it’s just none of your posts that show up on the main page and everybody else’s show, then maybe it’s your fault and not the admins’. Rather than just whining all the time, try and be a BIT helpful and try and solve the problem yourself.
