  1. Is that supposed to be a good thing? As long as it doesn’t churn out email notifications, it should be fine.

  2. No email, GMMan. It posts to your wall/newsfeed. A friend saw it and is already getting today’s giveaway. :)
Good advertising for the GAOTD Team!

  3. NOT pleased to see your announcement pop up in my feed under MY name. I’ve been passing along info about your giveaways for a few years~ but only AFTER I tried them. I went to delete it, and saw the option for not placing anything without asking me, but that is still not enough to jeopardize people’s faith in some I endorse.

There all kinds of services, products, artists, food etc. that i choose to let publish in my stream~ but it is under THEIR name. If a post comes through that I particularly recommend, I will repost it, but I don’t want a clunker to come through and have folks ask why I recommended such a thing.

Y’all get it so it comes clearly from YOU, please! because so much of what you offer is good, and you should get the credit for making it available, too!

  4. Well, I’ve ok’d the permissions in FB but a little reluctantly.. seems to want very broad access to info and publishing for no obvious reason.

The “Terms of Service” link just goes to GotD “About” page, so it’s far from clear what information is collected, or used for.

I’ve allowed it, partially because I trust this site, and partially because very little on the FB page I use is relevant or true so it doesn’t matter much ;)

I hope this can be cleared up a little, some may avoid it – and arguably rightly so.

  5. I am not particularly pleased about how it shows that it is coming from me either, but I will continue to use it. I would prefer that it shows Giveaway of the Day instead of my name. However, I suppose that may not work because then people would have to be signed up to a Facebook fan page for GOTD. This way it is on the friend feed page of all who use this application, so even friends of yours who may have never heard of this site are much more likely to learn about this wonderful site that provides FREE software. Thank you GOTD.

  6. I’ve already installed the app. No emails GMMan. It’s kind of handy because I don’t have to kick myself if I don’t remember to check in here.

  7. I’ll use this app. – if the 2nd of the 2’s permission =’ allow data ‘, . . .

is soley for the software creators/gawotd’s use – for stastical/marketing uses. ( as it would help both ).

I’ll also like to see the, fact that I am a frequent visitor, and that 2day’s ‘offering’ is, . . . ( don’t miss out !!!)

[ if there was a statement verifiying this/not, I’d allow, until then ]

and foreward thinking is the general right direction!.

    win7 pro/xp sp3 :)

  8. I’ll install it as soon as it publishes as being from GOTD and not from me.

I’d love to see that change.

  9. I’ve passed along a few offers from GAotD, but I’m not allowing daily wall posts. That’s a little too spammy for my taste.

I would, however, be more than pleased with a Box showing the day’s giveaway that can be dragged onto the Facebook profile page. Most FB apps have something like that, so it shouldn’t be too hard to do. Should it?

  10. gr8 site, keep it up

  11. Will install when it says it comes from gotd and not me

  12. Love the idea of being on my Facebook feed, but, like the others, would REALLY want it to be GOTD that it’s posted under…. :)
However….I have really loved this site since one of my kids had introduced it to me and have told many people in past about it because I KNOW it is a safe site, so, really DO like the idea of passing it on to as many as I can.

Thing is, because of certain games I play with large amts of army or neighbors, I and my many friends post a LOT for the games, so my feed goes by so fast I myself will probably miss the “reminder”! lol,

  13. Why not just make a Fan Page for Give Away of the Day that people can “Like”. Then just post the daily deal there and we’ll all see it. Then I can choose if I want to share it by posting it on my wall or not.

I don’t join anything that let’s people post things in my name without my control.

    Sorry.

  14. This message from Mike is the best Idea of all. MAKE IT A FAN PAGE. More people would sign up, no one would get the crap beat (verbally) out of them, and we would all feel a lot easier about this. Having said that, man oh day, but you’ve got a sweeeet thing going with GOTD. Thank YOU indeed

  16. Would be nice if the facebook app posted when a free game was actually available. Such a rare thing for there to be a free game on http://game.giveawayoftheday.com/ that I usually end up missing it. Would be really nice if either this app posted the free games or make another one for the games or something.

  17. Others before me said:

“Why not just make a Fan Page for Give Away of the Day that people can “Like”. Then just post the daily deal there and we’ll all see it. Then I can choose if I want to share it by posting it on my wall or not. I don’t join anything that let’s people post things in my name without my control. Sorry.”

“This message from Mike [above] is the best Idea of all. MAKE IT A FAN PAGE…”

Hope you guys are listening at GOTD… EVERYONE seems to be saying the same thing! Hopefully WHEN (not IF) you follow through with this idea, let me (and everyone else) know via email, and I’ll gladly LIKE the FB page as well.

  18. I also completely agree with Mike (“I can choose if I want to share it by posting it on my wall or not. I don’t join anything that let’s people post things in my name without my control”), and would gladly like a fan page on Facebook. But there is no chance that I’m giving away the right to post under my name, however reasonable the posts may be.
