Good news from our partner! Free Zortam Mp3 Media Sudio Pro updates for GAOTD visitors

Hello all!

If you visit our site often enough, you should probably remember Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Pro given away from our web-site.

Well, it’s even better now: you can have for free all 6.xx updates for this software, if you’re a GAOTD user!

You just need to use options from [Help] – [Check for updates] and download version 6.70 and all future 6.xx versions.

Thanks to Zortam!

  1. This is good news, but I tried upgrading before, and managed to trash my existing installation. I contacted their support people, and was basically told that if I wanted a new version, I had to pay them. And I couldn’t go back to my original version either.

I would love to be able to use the Pro version of this again, but cannot.

  2. Glad I check the blog once and a while :-) I went ahead and updated after seeing this. I hope it addresses a few minor glitches.

    Thanks GAOTD and Zortam

  3. That is cool that we get the updates. I’m really liking what this program can do. Now if only i can get it to covert mp3 audiobooks to iTunes compatible audiobooks.

  4. Sounds great! Now if we could only get it working in the first place…

  10. This is great. I like this program and I’m glad I get to see some of the bugs worked out. I will probably buy version 7 when it’s released.

  11. The update dialog box popped up when I opened the program, and the update went very smoothly. Thanks…

Any chance of a “video converter” program that will convert *.mov video to *.AVI vodeo? this would be an extremely useful utility for kodak digital camera owners.

Keep up the superb work GOTD. glad you’re there for us.

  12. #11 MOV to AVI: You can do that with “RAD Video Tools” (freeware)
    Download: http://www.netzwelt.de/software/4146-rad-video-tools.html
    (With DivX, also.)

Zortam: I’ve had some problems with the installation, cause I’ve tried it on the first day (you remember? ;)), so I will wait with the update. :))

    Thanx, for the offer.

  13. Happy to report that after the anouncment in this days giveaway I loaded up the program and was offered the upgrade after initially refusing it to check the site to make sure it hadn’t gone NT5 and above only and there were no signs of it, so asked program to check for updates and it all went smoothly:-) Thanks for not enforcing the no-updates rule via a unique key hash setup build for the giveaway.

  14. So very nice of Zortram to offer upgrades especially since they didn’t have to do that, according to their agreement with GOTD. Upgrade went smoothly, thanks Zortram and GOTD!

  15. When I opened Zortam it immediately asked if I wanted updates. I clicked yes and it seemed to happen. I can’t find a help button to check – Is there anything else I need to do?

It was very generous of the Zortam people and the GOTD team to provide us with this opportunity. Thank you both!

  17. I noticed something I generally frown upon with software, it calls home every time it’s fired up and requests the URL:
    http://www.zortam.com/scripts/zmmspro.php?version=6.70&appid=549DEAA1-C24C-11DB-B591DF43F99&s=DCAA-D345-607D-072B-F54D-5AA2-16A8-66CD-B3D2

    and their server responds:

CODE__[This is illegal copy of Zortam Mp3 Media Studio Professional.Thank You.]

Just as Windows genuine advantage notify, phoning home every bootup was finally recognised by microsoft as being excessive after user rejection of the behavior, hopefully zortam will make the next revision quit calling home on every startup and fail to terminate the connection for the duration of the session. I’m also finding that the program does not exit properly, but closes the window and tray icon and sits hidden from direct view stuck in some kind of loop needing task manager or a thrid party utility to kill off it’s process tree to release CPU to idle properly again.

  18. Update worked a treat. Now if you could only get the same deal with Iobit.com to update the AdvancedWindowsCare 2 program.

  19. Great. I got some error messages when this program loaded at startup. I’ll try it. [Am I the first to post? :D ]

  20. #17, TK, it’s doing that because you have the program set to check for new versions every time it’s opened. You can shut that off, in fact you can shut off all “call home” functions from within Zortam.

Go to Tools->General Preferences, uncheck all of the following:

“Send lyrics to Zortam server and help build international lyrics database”
“Check for new versions when the program starts”
“Save Amazon reviews to comment field”

If your internet connection automatically opens anytime Windows starts then also uncheck “Start Zortam MP3 Media Studio when Windows starts”. It’s a good idea to uncheck that one anyway, no need to start Zortam every time Windows starts and have it always running in the background when not using the program. After unchecking all those options click Apply, then click OK. No more phoning home.

What I noticed since the upgrade is that the initial splash screen stays up much longer than before, it used to just zip by. The program also intermittently locks up if “Tips of the Day” are enabled at program start up. It doesn’t do it all the time and doesn’t lock up the whole computer, task manager is still accessible with CTRL/ALT/DEL and shows Zortam as “not responding”, end task shuts it. The only way I have found to stop the intermittent locks ups of this program is to shut off tips by going to Help->Tips of the Day->Uncheck show Tips at Startup. Don’t know what bugs were fixed in the upgrade but it seems a few were added.

  24. #20, Site Seer, I have had (and still do) have Start Zortam When Windows Starts unchecked and yet it ALWAYS starts. Any ideas? Thanks.

  26. #24 Jane check your Startup folder, make sure Zortam didn’t get in there. It didn’t on my computer, shutting off “start when windows starts” from within Zortam stopped it, but it’s possible the program found its way into Startup on your computer. That’s the only way it would still start with every boot up if you have the option shut off from within Zortam.

To check goto Start->Programs->Startup If Zortam is there right click on it’s listed item to delete it from Startup.

  27. Hello there Jane,

You should go to Tools->Options and then on the General Preferences tab just uncheck the first checkbox “Start Zortam Mp3 Media Studio when Windows starts”. And that’s it. You don’t need any other things to do. It’s simple.
Zortam Mp3 Media Studio is my favourite mp3 manager application,I use it daily and there are no errors like that.

  28. The upgrade works fine – but it takes away some functionality! The batch look up of lyrics and pictures no longer works, and it says you need to upgrade to the PRO version to make it work!

  29. Just upgraded and started using the batch tool. This software is truly amazing. Thank you GOATD and Zortram. It’s like using cruise control. Now I just have to educate myself on the differences between all the ID tags….
