We’re moving to a new host
Hello everyone!
We’re moving our site to a new host. Pretty simple and standard procedure, but minor problems might take place. For ex.: some of your latest comments (on the currrent offering) and forum entries/posts (made today) can be lost.

Does this mean we will have the game give away back to the way it was ? as in daily giveaways ?? It would be nice to have daily games again.
Thanks for the notification, it is most appreciated. (It will also help to keep us daily GAOTD addicts from freaking out during any unforeseen glitches!) As a long-time fan of your site(s) and hard work, I’d also like to Thank You very much for you hard work and efforts. I know most of us are really looking forward to the return of the daily Game-of-the-day-giveaways and hope this move is another step in the direction of bringing them back from the weekends only offers. I for one appreciate every offering made by your team, whether I personally have a use for it or not, as there are very few people these days working around the clock to offer something for free to total strangers. The whole GAOTD team deserves a lot more credit then they are getting from those who complain about a free offering. Keep up the GREAT work as some of us do truelly appreciate all of your efforts.

This is the best site ever. Ya’ll are doing a great job. I just can not believe people actually complain about the programs given away. They are free! Don’t use them if you don’t want them but quit complaining. I look forward everyday to seeing whats on your site.

I look forward to the change. The move might solve the activation problem that some of us have had. I have wanted to suggest your move to another server for several months.
The forum contains many comments on the activation problem and the many steps that I and others have taken to correct it. I don’t remember if the activation problem that I have been experiencing pre-dates your move to the present server or not. Perhaps the problem is a software hiccup relating to the activation script. I hope not. If the problem continues after your move, do you think that you might take a look at the software used for activation prior to setup?

If you have chosen the right host there will be few problems.
If not move again quick. bad hosts never get any better
I recently moved to Hostgator and it was the best thing I could have done
There were small problems but the backup was 24/7 and they were so helpful even though the problem was nothing to do with them.

Changing hosts can be a nightmare; I’ve been through that a few times myself. I hope it goes smoothly for you.

Is this the reason there’s no giveaway for Saturday, July 5? Is the new system to offer ONLY games on weekends, instead of both games and software?
Mind you, that’s okay. Whoever provides the freebies gets to make up the distribution rules.
Hope the new host improves things for you. Please, please dont start out with a sceensaver! I have noticed over time that the screensaver offers seems to reduce GAOTD credibility. Even if they are only given away every other Sunday. Screensavers are a dime a dozen, and there is so much better software to choose from. Just seeing all the thumbs down tells alot about what people think.

Good news, you are dedicated hard workers and good luck for this transition.Whatever you give is okay with us, after all it is free and its your grace.You are the only one of your kind.People must not complain or take you for granted.I hope that these maintainance days give a lesson to those cranky freaks.Also, its great to have a break!

Well, no giveaways seem to be occuring :P
For the new site, this is something that commonly gets me. I get all the best giveaways, but then a virus forces me to use the HP recovery, and I lose all of my beloved programs (especially wondershare stuff…. grr…) Is there some way that the giveaway folks could make it so the programs all come with a working key, unique to the giveaway users? That way, when I lost my software, I’d be able to get it back. (albeit, a few programs do come with keys, but most of them are just the useful programs, not the great programs)
Please consider this. It would really be a boon to your already marvelous project.

Just wanted to say what a terrific job you do here. I don’t always post, but usually download a piece of software or two a month that I end up keeping.
I read lots of negative posts about some of the give a ways. Although some offers aren’t something that I would use, I would never complain. I have gotten some REALLY good programs here and the price is always right.

BTW. If you have a Google homepage, you can put up a link directly to that from GOTD and see each days new give a ways. I put it right under my new mail messages. Second spot on the page that’s how much I think of this site.

For all complaining about screensavers and video converters, did you consider that maybe — just MAYBE — they have nothing else to put up? Because lotsa software publishers don’t want to, and if they put up a re-run of another, people will complain.
i am not sure if this is because of the move, but i can’t access the site anymore. even when i click through from the emails i get, it goes to the July 3rd offering. and the game gotd site goes to puzzle hero. i have been a fan of your site for several months now (not very long i know), and would like to continue being able to get onto your site. please help!

I enjoy visiting this site. I install some of the software on a Vista machine and some on an XP machine and some on both. Thanks for the free stuff. One issue I have noticed is that while downloading since the move to a new host, using Firefox 3 the download hangs and stops, while using IE 7 it downloads fine. I don’t know if there is an issue with Firefox or the new host, just something I noticed. Thanks again for the free software.

Thank you and a tip of the hat for your hard work as you do what you do. I have greatly enjoyed the use of many programs offered. May I suggest offering a home inventory program. Something to track the many things we may need for insurance purposes, should our home or things be subject to a disaster we could use to process for home contents etc.? Keep up the fine work many of us appreciate!!
