Very minor request for the developers… Since the blog article list is always on the front page, how about putting a date in the titles?
Right now, it looks like the GAOTD will “be back” “tomorrow” after a “quick maintenance” on a “new host” with a “big hit” “game giveaway”…
The only part of that statement that’s definitely true is that GAOTD plans to be back tomorrow. Even if the software you’re using doesn’t let you put the data automatically in the summary list you’ve got on the front page, today’s post could have been: “8/25 – We’ll be back tomorrow :)”
Great programs this week and I even enjoyed the games. I’ll be staring at my “chubby dwarf” until GAOTD comes back tomorrow. :)

I have an older system that runs at only 349Mhz so most (99%) of the games you guys offer won’t work with my mechine—any chance of ever finding something here that will….? oh no! Now what am I to do! How do you expect me to go a whole day without my download for the day? Last time this happened I spent the day chasing chickens around the yard pulling thier feathers out one by one with my teath, poor chickens are already running for the hills! Got to take away their PDA’s!
Just found out about the site around a week ago, and this is the second down day in the last approx week since I’ve been visiting. Is this typical?

We’re a small non-profit org. So this place is great for us. Since there’s no give away today, I thought it might be good to ask a few questions.
1. I downloaded, installed Edraw Max. I double checked the registration and activated the product. Yesterday, I open it and nothing. I still have the Now, I can’t License code but I get the message that it’s registered to another computer.
2. Any way to reinstall a program after your hard drive dies you have to do a fresh install?

Just wondering… I have been using this site for quite awhile, and have downloaded some great software. I believe something infected my IE and I have been using Firefox with pretty good success. However, I have a problem accessing this site, will not let me finish setup even after download. Sometimes after awhile I can get in, but usually seem to not be able to more often than not. I check and close my firewall, and even other protection programs with no luck… any suggestions. I use Vista, and have not been about to figure out how to try and fix explorer.. will not let me download as it tells me it is in my vista program… ugh!!! HELP would be greatly appreciated!!

To all the whiners – get over yourselves already. This site cost you absolutely nothing, yet complaints are ever appearing. Michalis – what is your problem? You are disappointed – go somewhere else and see what you get? Gee Bob – you want to run the site? They do it their way.
Maybe this is an indication of what is wrong with the world. You get something for free and then you come to EXPECT it, you want to change it, and all you do is complain about it. That really makes people want to do something nice.
Just say “thank you” “doing a great job” “appreciate all that you do”. Leave your nasty whines at home.

It amazes me how people complain about stuff they get for free. It’s not like they have to pay for shipping. If it doesn’t look like something they need, to their liking, or they feel is worthwhile they should skip it. But sooner or later they will find one, but most likely more, real treasures, for free.

#7 – If you are disappointed at the software offered here, then don’t show up anymore. One less whiner = WORLD PEACE. Like when did society ever gave you a right to complain over something that’s FREE?
If you paid for it and you are disappointed at the product for not meeting your expectations. Then yeah, you can complain! But when something is FREE, just zip up that lip and stop whining!
I don’t think you would ever go up to the free sample lady at the supermarket, try out her sample and then say, “THIS SAMPLE SUCKS! I AM REALLY DISAPPOINTED AT YOU FOR WASTING MY TIME!” See how she would react to you.
Come to think of it, you would probably not even have the balls to do that. So respect GAOTD for the effort that they put in to get us a FREE software on a daily basis.

What is your problem? Bob (#12) asked a legitimate question of the owner/operator of this site. Perhaps you should let them answer and mind your own business. He wasn’t whining. Just asking for a reasonable accomodation. I can relate. I have no access to the internet most weekends and miss the occasional cool download here. Yeah, that’s life. But when they aren’t posting a new giveaway, if possible, it would be nice to give everyone who missed the previous day’s giveaway a chance to download. This may be more complicated than it appears to us. If so, I think niteowl can answer for himself without your overbearing and condescending remarks. Unlike some comments Bob never said he expected anything. He simply asked the question.
So how about it, niteowl? Is it feasable to extend future giveaways that fall directly before a scheduled/unscheduled maintenance of the site?
Thanks for continuing to offer these giveaways. Some rock, some suck… but the opportunity to try so many for profit software packages for free without restriction has worked well for me, personally.

Thank you # 36. I agree! The audacity of some people to actually complain about anything about this web site. People CAN comment on the quality of the software offerings based on their USING the free/giveaway software. That is what this site is all about. Letting people try software to find out what is good, or bad, with it and to spread the word about the really good titles. So for all of the complainers out there, and skeptics… Get a life, be more appreciative, and be grateful that this site exists!!! I have been using this site for a very very long time and have found everything from “11 out of 10″ to “0 out of 10″ software, and I have always been grateful for the offerings. Uninstalling is not that hard to do (Revo uninstaller gets all the icky bits out!)

Granted, I can’t always use the software EVERY DAY, but really – free is free and you complain? Most of us are grateful for your hard work, most of us remember you have lives and problems happen BEYOND YOUR CONTROL, and most of us aren’t selfish children that look a gift horse in the mouth.

I heartily agree with #18, Gzint. If you can’t put these “see you tomorrow” announcements in the spot you normally use for the current Giveaway of the Day, which is my first choice, then dating the missives on the right side would be the next coolest option.

Note to 28. no idea what caused your first problem – my program is fine and shows it is registered to giveawayoftheday. One thing I am doing to hopefully avoid a possible hard drive loss – I have installed all my giveaways to my external hard drive which is less used and hopefully will last longer. No idea how this will work as it doesn’t backup registry codes.
While I’m on the subject…My eyes aren’t what they used to be which wasn’t much in the first place, so I usually need to zoom in on web pages in order to be able to read the text on my TV/monitor from my recliner. That allows me to see only about 2/3 of the page width-wise. Yeah, I know, you all want to chip in to get me a 60″ LCD TV to replace my puny 32″ model so I don’t have to suffer that hardship – but until you do, I’m going to try to make it a habit to use Opera for viewing this site. A cool feature of Opera is the “fit to Width” option under the view menu. With this feature activated Opera does its best to keep the whole page width visible, even when zooming in with the + key. That way, not only will I be able to see all of the announcements, but I’ll also be more likely to notice what game is being offered. Another side benefit, in my opinion, is that when I zoom the comments page, the width of the comments stays the same as the text gets larger, and the comments from long winded writers (yes, I know, I can make a flag wave on a dead calm day) is easier to read when you don’t have to swivel back and forth trying follow some poor souls wandering train of thought. While I am extolling the coolness of Opera, let me note that, in Firefox, when the “View/Zoom/Zoom Text Only” option is checked, you can zoom in farther before the right-side stuff gets shoved off into scroll-bar land. Okay everybody, the train has finally arrived at the station. If you know what’s good for you, you’ll get off now, while you’ve got the chance..
I totally agree with #18!!! I think dates are a great idea! Then we know when the maintenance are and such for those who are new. When I found this site, it said big hit returning tomorrow. But it didn’t the next day. It was from a few weeks before. So the date would be very good for those new or taking a quick look.

A suggestion – Slava, why not put the maintenance alert on the product tab, just like you do the product name. That way, instead of “nothing” where todays date and product name would usually be, the tab could say “Quick Maintenance Today” – see details top of page (or whatever you’d want to say).
Simple to do, would avoid confusion for those who don’t know to look at the top of the page. Thanks for listening, and thanks for GAOTD.

Check the forums from time to time… even though there are no GiveAway’s today sometimes some of the users find Commercial software and games for free… picked up a few goodies in the forums…

Many times when trying to download and install the software of the day and even if it sayes expires ind 17 hours I get the message that the offer is expired and today when I wanted”PDF to Word konverter” there were no match. THIS I A BIT IRRITATING
Does this mean the PDF to MSWord will be listed again? as there was not any access to this on Sunday the 14 Sept at 10:10.
PS: I could use one to take the images out of PDF files as well.. even more so… if y’all run across one of this software?
