Problems with Internet RadioFan

Hello everybody!

Today’s giveaway (19/01/2009) will be halted because the developer has some major problems – server is down and because of that most of you cannot get Internet RadioFan properly registered.

We are sorry for this inconvenience and hope that as soon as all the server problems will be solved, ZazSoft would offer Internet RadioFan as a giveaway for our users once again.

Regards,
GAOTD

  2. Thanks for posting this info to let us know, BUT you might want to send out an email for those who don’t know how to find it . . . You know they’re out there, ready to bitch!

  3. Yes, we figured that out.

They actually call it a “server”, not “servers” – but if you’re offering something on GOTD you should be prepared for at least SOME traffic, wouldn’t you think?

It looks like they route several functions thru their server – registration, account setup, the database of stations, and even streams, although I’m not sure about the last one – so it makes me wonder what they were expecting today – a few dozen new users maybe? I haven’t seen any hard numbers, but it looks like on average GOTD gets many thousands of visitors….

Too bad, it looks like a fun little program, but I’m not going to wait to give it a try now, and I’ve spent FAR too much time on it already.

  4. Actually, all or a portion (at least) is based on the website below which they do not allow. It is FREE and allows access to around 3000 channels.

    Enjoy this as a replacement!

  5. Maybe you could post this info on the actual giveaway so the visitors immediately see what is going on. You can still stop the commenting, but at least there is a giveaway (page) visible with the reason why it isn’t active anymore.

  6. Looks like a responsible decision, albeit a disappointing one for me. Now I’ll have to find something else to do to waste my time on. LOL!

  9. I tried numerous times to activate Internet RadioFan before looking here at the blog. I am on the email list for GAOTD and although I don’t take up many of the offers, the few I have worked well except for today.

Obviously the Internet RadioFan server could not handle the traffic generated today, hopefully they increase server capacity and maybe additional mirror servers to increase capacity. Then come back to GOTD again, at least they have generated publicity today and hopefully given them the incentive to improve.

    Good Luck Internet RadioFan.

  10. I installed IRF early this morning, before the troubles started, I think.
It listed 5 tv-stations in the Netherlands and wwitv 99! And they actually work.
Thank you #4,Dr K., I know what to do.

  14. I’ve mentioned it at both the Dutch and International website, but once again: if you need to have an alternative now, try Screamer Radio at screamer-radio.com

  15. Thank you for the notice GAOTD. Also, thank you for you continued effort and dedication, a visit to your site always brightens up my day.

  18. Thanks for the effort anyway. I’ve gotten some other things here that make the occasional hassle o.k., if not preferred.

It might be an idea to send out an updated feed in a case like this though. I did not find this message easily.

  19. Hello, just wondered if you could maybe put up some holding text for those of using your ticker. A bit like when radio station control desks go down for more than 30 seconds an emergancy CD kicks in so as not to allow radio silence to continue – perhaps you could put in place a fail-save whereby if the GOTD servers or the servers of the actual giveaway go down of for some reason you have to remove that day’s software the holding text/ image kicks in on the ticker…

Don’t worry folks – they’ll be another GiveAwayOfTheDay very soon – we’re just having a little technical problem!

    etc etc

  27. Today, Feb. 4. This giveaway went out again.

  28. Internet RadioFan performs better than any of the free examples of similar programs I have tested.

Internet RadioFan has a simple interface, a speedy install, and works great on both XP and Vista.

  29. The new (Feb 4th) version works perfectly. This is the easiest online radio/tv software I’ve used yet. The amount of radio stations is great (well for US and Canada which is all I am interested in).

TV station selection, as with all of these online tv/satellite programs, sucks. All news tv and religious channel garbage. Just ignore the tv tab. The radio is awesome.

  30. You know I see all you guys complaining about some of the software that is offered here on the site isn’t working properly however if you all would read a little more that they are working to get the problems fixed. STOP COMPLAINING WILL YA! After all these folks are giving the software away free to the users of the site and it is my thought that they are not held accountable for the failer of the software. Those of you that are complaining about the software how about this lets see you all start your own company and website and offer the software that is given away here.

  32. I installed RadioFan on two computers when it was offered. It has now failed on both computers running two different operating systems, both Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista.
It must have interacted with a Microsoft Update or a Java Update — or a Flash update, one of the three, but it just would no longer boot up, it just crashed in flames.

RadioFan needs a lot of work if it is going to be useful. I ended up having to uninstall it completely off both computers.
