Have you considered putting a notice on the main page (and game page)? Besides the blog entry at the right? I’m not used to checking the blog, and just noticed it when I checked yesterdays offering.

Looking forward to an even better site. Your project is the greatest thing on the web but there is always ways to improve and I appreciate that you are making the effort.

When the Sibental problem is resolved I hope that you offer the download again. I uninstalled it because it wasn’t working.

Thanks GAOTD for all the software that you have given away in 2008. I was most impressed with Prevx 2 which by far has given me a malware free pc & notebook. My kids enjoyed the games that we have downloaded and i have not experienced any of the glitches that some downloaders have.

I hope that with the maintenance work you will do today you will get to evaluate so as to give much more focus to the software you give away.

Your site has become a regular feature of my early mornings. The past year has been so very enjoyable and has opened up my eyes to many softwares that I never knew I needed :) It’s also expanded my love of most games genres. Pre GGAotD I hardly played any arcade games apart from arcanoid and space shooters. Thank you for opening up the world of games to me.

thanks, thanks and thanks, this is TAPASH from a very remote place in india, where there is no broadband at all.i look eagarly for the time 1.30in the afternoon to come. and rush to may laptop to see the offer for today. it has become a part percel of our life. as i don;t like (rather hate) piracy (which is the norm in this subcontinental), your offers are blessing to me.as a student i can’t afford beyond a OS AND SECUEITY SOFTWARE.now i can use some good original software.from dec.1 to dec. 20 we have no connection due to cable theft.i have to rush to a cafe 7 km away from home to see the offer and then with my laptop to PCO nereby my house to activate the product in the next morning.on 21st dec i counted i spend Rs.1000 (US$ 20), which i would seldom spend on purchasing a softwre (of rather think of). even i was not aware of my spending, all i know in those days that if i had not check days offer i will be going to miss something./
i think this is the essence of your effort. thanks again.

try to provide at least two or three brand staff in the year specially for students ( who has less purchasing power) i have mentioned it in blog also. at leaset . and fine security software (norton/macafee/avg pro/kasperskey/zone alarm),/ microsoft office 2007 students and home/ abode photoshop for learning (if there is any ).

Thanks for putting this site together and for all your hard work, GAOTD Team. I started coming here in the spring of 2007 and have come every day since to see what is being offered. I have downloaded a few of the applications but I download more games than applications. I enjoy coming here to see what is offered every day, even if it is something I don’t want, kind of like window shopping. If I see something I like then I go in and get it. If it is something I don’t like then I just keep ‘walking’. But it is always a joy for me to come here and look. You have made this site an ‘old friend’ for me and I appreciate every effort you put into it to make it such a great site.

I hope that your 2008 brings you wealth, health, and success in all aspects of your lives. Thank you for bringing a bit of joy into mine.

p.s. The comments section on the games side really gets out of hand a lot of the times with people blasting an offering based only on the type of game it is, not on the game itself. I don’t know if it is feasible or not, but if everyone had to register as they do in the forums to post in the comments (software review) section, perhaps it would cut down on the posts that have nothing to do with a software review of the offering. It would, in my mind, be nice if the registration for the comments was somehow linked to the forum registration, since I am already registered in the forums. :-) Just a thought. Even though there’s probably only something for me once a month or so, I still always check - and, of course, the one day I don’t check is the day you offer something I wanted! Such, of course, is life….

I just have to say again that I was thrilled with StarBurn Shark! It works great on my WinXP Pro machine! This was the best download I have ever gotten. And it did do a DVD-HD!! I truely believe those having problems with a (supposed) browser hijack are novices. I simply opted to not have my home page changed. In the past, I have temporarily linked to software companies that I had purchased from. So to me, asking to change my home page address is a service, especially for novices.

This is such a great site! I have rarely been dissapointed in the software offered. Well, except for the screensavers. Maybe one screensaver a month. For those who actually like them.

I wish there was a way of weeding out comments from people who cant figure out how the system works. Like “I got the time expiring shareware version”. I like GAOTD just the way it is. Keep up the good work!!! :-)

Wow. I’m not affiliated with GAOTD at all, I’m just a visitor, like you. But I’ve gotta say that I’ll bet nobody expected the outpouring of appreciation you guys are showing in this thread, and I’ll further bet that it means **EVERYTHING** to the site owners.

This was a great, generous and, I sincerely hope, soon-to-be profitable idea that they had, creating a site of this nature. Search however you like, you will not, at this date, find another like it.

I came on sometime mid-2007, and I’ve noticed that they have generally not censored our comments. Every single day, there are insane and bitchy comments made about what they have negotiated to give free to anyone in the world who would like it, and yet daily they’ve been complained about — and have let the complaints be published. They’ve let us have our voices. And they’ve not argued, they’ve simply continued to grow, and to add features along with the software.

But you know what? Every single day, there have also been **hugely** helpful suggestions and alternative softwares suggested by us, the visitors. We have invested ourselves in GAOTD so passionately that I know that if I miss an offer or have doubts or problems with it, I can look at the download page comments and my fellow visitors will have told me what else is free and given me a comparison with other programs, usually complete with URL. What other site lets you post that? What other site has even begun to supply **a dedicated page** on their site that lets you send its visitors elsewhere? What other visitors can boast a dedicated reviewer who takes time to write a 15-minute-review most every day?

And that brings me to this one last thing. And that would be … what you’ve said today. Yeah, sure what I’m saying here sounds sappy. Hey, it even feels sappy. But the truth is that some of today’s comments genuinely made me a little teary, and that was cool. It had never occurred to me before that some of GAOTD’s visitors might travel 7 km in a day to check the site, then travel further just to find a connection for the activation — even though they’ve no idea what kind of “chocolate they will find in that day’s box”, to paraphrase one commenter. It never occurred to me that some visitors might rely on the games to provide respite while caring for loved ones, far from a reliable connection; that some might live where hardware and software are not easy to find, regardless of income, and that, like me, they look on GAOTD as a friend they can count on during yucky days.

I live in a part of the world, and on a part of the world’s income, where I can generally get what I need, and I look forward to GAOTD for the wonderful surprises, the innovation, and the introduction to the work of programmers and companies I might never have heard of otherwise. I hadn’t realized how much a part of that experience I owed to the wonderful comments of you, my fellow visitors who daily take time to contribute, have been for me until today. I hadn’t realized how fortunate I was that I don’t have to travel and hope for a connection, like some of you must do. After this, I’m going to pay a lot more attention to what folks here say they need, and contribute more toward finding it.

I hadn’t realized how much your experiences, as you’ve written them out today, would make me smile and feel proud and happy and **lucky** to be part of this community of GAOTD. I’m betting that, until today’s outpouring of appreciation … GAOTD hadn’t known either. And I’ll bet it meant a lot.

This site allows not only free pay-for-programs but also allows users to comment ones they enjoy that are even better then the pay-for-programs making this an over-all amazing site. I have recently found my utter most favorite media player, KMPLayer, from a comment from this site and I will always love this site for the ability to express our opinion on a program and to give extra resources.

fault!). Tried all sort of optimisers but looks as if I am brewing
for a rebuild sometime soon.
Trouble is I won’t be able to re-install any of the great apps I have
at the moment.
There must surely be demand for a replay section for situations such as this…..

Everyone needs a day off once in a while, and you guys sincerely deserve it! I will be back tomorrow to see what new and exciting “goodies” you have to offer me from the software “goodie box!” It is like having a virtual yard sale for software and the price is definitely right! I used to shell out big bucks for software but not anymore since I discovered GAOD! And by the way thanks for the EASUS Partition Manager giveaway program. I have been in desperate need of that one for eons but could not afford the price. You guys rock!

For an example #47. I think there should be a 150-word limit for the comments. As writers, we want our words to burn — into the souls of our readers. Unfortunately, we often think that the more words we give, the greater that burn will be. Fact is, just the opposite is true — tightly written, colorful, descriptive, and pared-down prose will burn into readers’ hearts and minds more quickly than rambling, redundant, and unnecessary text. Why? Several reasons: The shorter your writing, the better chance it has of being read. And, people enjoy prolific people: saying the same thing with fewer words as opposed to many words brands you as prolific, not the fact that you know a thousand multi-syllabic words. And finally, it is easier to remember three pithy words than it is 10 that wander about.

I’ll just echo my own kudos and appreciation. I’ve been hanging out with GAOTD for about a year now, and in all honesty, all I ever expected it to be was a download site for cheap games and unknown software of questionable quality. After all, if the publisher has to give it away how good can it be? You’ve exceeded that expectation again and again. Looking at the software titles I use on a daily basis I notice that quite a few are paid for versions of applications I first learned of at GAOTD. (The EverNote offering (including the full and portable versions) was a real coup.)

Just wanted to say Thank You for all the Games and software I recieve here, I also enjoy the comments of the few people that really know computers and what to do with the programs….( Not the ones that say to put the program when the sun don’t shine) With Some softwear I wait to see what the professionals here have to say I have on vista and Like the Feedback on how it works. also the ones that do reviews of the games and softwear really helps me to decide if I can use the software /game.

This site is so Awesome I have been comming here for a year now, I don;t believe in crying over programs that do not fit my needs I just come back the next day. I for one understand that each of us has different likes and dislikes, believe it or not there are some people that do enjoy getting a screen saver from time to time.

So People Lets all make this a better year ..as #47 states no more whining and if you don;t like it take a hike because we on a whole really could care less about your whinning, we want to see constructive postings. where You have tried the Progrom and letting people and the software company know how it worked for you. after all that is why they are giving these to us to try and to let them know how it works for us, so they know what they can do to improve it, whinning and belly aching don;t tell them Jack.

I’d like to take this opportunity to add my thanks to the GAOTD team. I’ve been coming here for about a year, and I look forward to checking out each day’s offerings. My new computer screeched to a halt at the beginning of the summer (turned out the motherboard died), and by the time I got it fixed it was October. My old computer has no room left on it, so I was not able to play with the GAOTD offerings, and I have to say that was the thing I missed the most. One of the first things I did when I got the new computer back was to head here and see what new treats were available!

I really appreciate all the work the team does in order to bring us the software and games. I’ve obtained games that I would never have come across otherwise, and that have given me many hours of entertainment. I’ve also downloaded some good software, but I have to admit that I tend to be more into the games at this point. It’s wonderful to be able to try all these things without having to pay for them. I have bought some games in the past that I really didn’t like, so I’m very happy that you give us the opportunity to try things out like this. If I ever do lose the games and software that I’ve gotten from GAOTD, at least I know which ones I like, so I would not hesitate to purchase them for a new computer.

Firstly, Thankyou for the great FREE games and apps I have recieved over the course of 2007. There have been some really great games and apps in there. Okay, so some of the games arent cutting edge as far as graphics goes, but games are..GAMES… theyre designed to be played, not scrutinised. My Daughters and Son love them, they too say thanks.
Secondly another thankyou. Someone earlier commented that they hoped you censored negative comments. No! Dont! THANKYOU for allowing them to stay. SOME (probably 10%) of the comments ARE valid and worth noting, like when things dont run on vista, etc.. THANKS for NOT censoring them. It is pointless having a scoring/rating system and not to allow comments. How else can you truly validate before download?

Thirdly.. HAPPY NEW YEAR to the whole team. you do an outstanding job with this website. it truly doth rock.. to coin a bill n ted phrase. Most Excellent!

Your site has persuaded me to purchase the pro version for two of the programs I’ve downloaded here and I think I’m getting a true bargain.

Enjoy the break if your not too busy working on the maintenance. Unfortunately my broadband connection decided to take a days break one day before you so I missed out on what looks like a great offering on Jan 6th. If it had decided to go on the blink today - no problem. Oh well Che Sara Sara.

A number of people complain about the screensavers, but those are among my favorite Giveaways. It’s very relaxing just to sit for a few minutes, watch the screensaver and listen to the music. I find it’s a great stress reliever.

A while ago, someone posted an idea about giving screensavers their own seperate section on the site, similar to “Game Giveaway of the Day”. Then those who really want the screensavers (like me) can go to that section of the website, while the rest can go to the regular Giveaway section. Perhaps that might be an idea.

I just want to say thank you and I’ll never ever complain about what you choose to give away every day, but could you please run Jan 6th’s giveaways again? I missed them and now today there isnt one! I’m going through withdrawls here. Thanks again for a fabulous site!

Great site. Thanks so much. I only hope somewhere along the line I figure out why it takes so long to download (and is the only one to do that)and why some programs like your last offer didn’t work for me.

To stem the complainers about all of the screensavers, just create a screensaver of the day side of your website similar to the game giveaway of the day. That way you will never have another negative comment about this issue.
Thanks for offering software for free; you have saved everyone hundreds of dollars each year if not more. Trying the software costs us a little time and effort to learn if it will work for us.

We should be offering you something for your service as a gesture of thanks. Keep up the positive work.
